Tension rises in Malabor as malabites Protest against Perceived Injustice.

This evening (24 July) at about 10.00pm, Malabites were found shouting and chanting…….”We no go gree oh, we no go gree”!

MalaborWatch found out that the reason for the chanting was to register their displeasure with the University management who decided to allocate the tear rubber thoroughly renovated hall5 to the Medical Students (Medicine & Surgery Specifically).
It could be recalled that since the August 26/27, 2011 incidence (RIOT) that took place in The great republic of malabor, Students have not been allowed to reside in the hall because of the level of renovation that was being carried out, (the renovation took almost three years).
As we speak to you now, the hostel is as good as new with tiles in the toilet and bathrooms, ceiling fan, Reading table and chair for each room and a well redefined quadrangle with more ropes for students to dry their clothes.
Now, malabites are angry that since the beginning of the semester which started on the 16th of may for freshers till now, students who applied for accommodation either through balloting or staff request have not seen their names pasted except for medical students which their accommodation list was released about two weeks ago.
Today, medical students were found clearing their allocated spaces in hall 5 and moving their luggage. Malabites began to ask themselves questions like, why the perceived injustice and the preferential treatment on the medical students seeing that the Hostel in moore road is specially for Medical students, the Hostel in Calabar Road is specially for Medical students, they also have Hall 2 and hall 2 Anex. Even though hall 2 is undergoing thorough renovation, "that is not enough reason to allocate Hall 5 to only Medical students", they said.

For the past two sessions, malabites have been managing the very limited accommodation that is available in the hostel, a development that has caused some malabites who can afford the very high cost of living off-campus to leave the hostel while those who do not have what it takes to live off campus resort to squatting thereby increasing the number of students who reside in a single room.
The Students Union Government President, Comr. Bassey Eka immediately alerted the necessary quarters as he tried to handle the situation the way he could. While he was still addressing the students who were gathered in front of hall 4, The O.C Surveillance came and was given the opportunity to address the students, he tried to explain why the medical students were allocated to Hall 5, The rains that fell about three weeks ago blew off the roof of hall 2 causing serious damage to the very expensive materials which they usually purchase to aid their study and also that Hall2 is currently undergoing thorough renovation. He pleaded that the students should not take laws into their hands and assured them that the displeasure has been registered with the school management

MalaborWatch can say emphatically that the Vice Chancellor of the Institution is a father who has the interest of Malabites and Malabresses at heart. The issue in contention shall be resolved as soon as possible.
We Urge all Malabites to remain law abiding as we are well known for REASONABLE ACTIONS. Be your brother’s keeper & remain law abiding citizens of this great armless battalion’s republic.
