with the forth coming SUG Election slated for 26th June, 2015 to hold online
Students under the umbrella of MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE INITIATIVE
have been going around the university community agitating against E-Voting on
the grounds that it is unconstitutional and as such seen as a strategy used by
the management to plant an SUG President that can be easily controlled.
They are even of the opinion that the current Ajang Emmanuel
Led exco were not the choice of students that is why they really cannot speak
for the benefit of Nigerian Students in the University of Calabar.
Some of the questions they are asking is,
How do you explain the Increment in Acceptance fee from
10,000 to 15,000 between last session and this session?
Why should we pay about or over 3000 Naira as portal
charges?
How do you explain that in the 11th week of
resumption, Accommodation list is yet to be released?
Etc and the SUG president cannot tell us anything tangible.
To this end, the group is planning a peaceful protest on Monday
to register their displeasure over management’s decision to conduct elections
online.
Information has gotten to the University management and they
are organizing a town hall meeting on Monday, 8
June, 2015
Venue = Unical International
Conference Centre, Calabar.
Time: 8am
All students are expected to be there so as to ask questions
on issues bothering them…
