OPEN LETTER TO MR. PRESIDENT
It is with much excitement and expectations that I and all Nigerians welcome you Mr. President into office even as you take us through the desired change that you promised us.
I remember weeks and months leading to the election; you sounded confident, trustworthy and worth putting our faith on and that's what we have done.
As you preside over this great nation in the coming years these are my humble request of your government and I'm sure most Nigerians will agree.
First and foremost I ask that you do not neglect unfinished projects or ongoing projects by the outgoing government that are in the best interest of the people, please continue and complete them.
1. Corruption: As you promised to fight corruption, I hope you really do it. Having seen and discovered that most of our challenges in Nigeria is due to corrupt individuals at the helms of affairs who choose to shortchange the interest of Nigerians for their greedy pockets. I'm sure if this aspect is sorted out then we can fully concentrate in to developing the sectors of our economy. And you'll be able to fully discharge your duties without bad eggs ruining your efforts.
2. Youth Development: The other thing I humbly ask of you Mr President is to make plans to accommodate our youths in the affairs and governing of the nation. Don't make a 50year old father of Five the minister for youth affairs because he will never know what affairs the youths are involved in. Create structures for youth development, job employments and much more entrepreneurship development. Make grants available and accessible to youths for SME.
3. Electricity: For many years it has been an agenda for campaign by many politicians yet the power problem in Nigeria has not been sorted out. Different approaches and methods have been adopted but we still wallow in the dark. Many enterprise both SME and large industries depend on it. So Sir please do something about it.
4. Security: Many would have expected me to put this first but I believe if the other things above are in place we'll have leas concerns for security as much as we do now. This is because if we have youths engaged, many won't have to be involved in criminal activities. If everyone's interest is represented and corrupt leaders are rooted out then there won't be place for such to finance and propagate criminal activities. But then I also expect that our security should be a priority because without the people, there's no government. So Mr. President please make sure Nigerians are secured.
5. Education: Having been a student almost all my life, I've found that our educational system is an eyesore. Institutions are increasingly been inaugurated but the standards is not updated. Syllables are old and outdated. Facilities are not enough to meet up with the "age" and global standard. Please sir set up structures to develop our educational system and improve it to meet with the "age" and global standard.
6. Agriculture: With the recent decline in the income from petroleum, I ask that you put up structures to continue and improve the agriculture sector project started by your predecessors.
Make available and accessible grants, machineries and resources to help farmers and agriculturists.
7. Health Sector requires very urgent and critical attention. You will be shocked to know about our leaders and public office holders who struggle to perform their duties and at times have to be off work for long periods due to poor health and travels out of the country to receive appropriate medical attention. Our development has suffered on account of this. The PEOPLE and POLICIES of the Buhari administration should make the difference!
One more favour; I ask Sir that you review the income of our lawmakers because those funds going to some few people can be helpful in helping us overcome some financial challenges.
